Sarah Wilberta Ogden

Sarah OgdenRewey, WI – Sarah Wilberta Ogden, age 95, died on Thursday afternoon August 21, 2014 at Manor Care in Platteville. She was born on Sept. 2, 1918 in Knox, Indiana, the daughter of Roy and Anna (Kline) Hibray. Sarah met and married the love of her life, Cecil Ogden on March 6, 1937 in Martin, South Dakota.

Sarah and Cecil made their living while raising their family on the farm. She was a very hard worker along with being an awesome “Mom”. Sarah was a wonderful baker, who also enjoyed working in the garden, canning, sewing, quilting, crocheting and reading her bible. Being a nurturing mother and grandmother, Sarah also sponsored numerous children through the Christian Relief Fund. Sarah was an active member of the Livingston Free Methodist Church where she was the church treasurer for many years. She believed in devoting her life to her family and her faith.

Sarah is survived by her eight children; Marvin Ogden of Belmont, Jerry (Mary) Ogden of Verona, Jim (Rose) Ogden of Rewey, Patricia (Merle) Vacha of Rewey, Linda Brown of Livingston, Mary Ann (Bob) Dailey of Madison, Kathy Ogden of Milwaukee, and Joyce (Rick) Ogden-Portz of Spring Green, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, a brother Art Hibray of Harlan, IA, and a sister Lola Hartwig of McMinnville, OR.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil on Dec. 28, 1991, sons; Robert and Lawrence Ogden, daughters; Janet and Vicki Ogden, brother Roy Hibray Jr., son-in-laws; Rex Brown and Michael Prawitz, daughter-in-law Cheryle Ogden, and two grandchildren; Kelly and Kent Ogden.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday August 25, 2014 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort. Private burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date in Carmel Cemetery in Rural Rewey. Pastor Greg Marsh of the Livingston Free Methodist Church will be officiating.  A visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon, August 24, 2014 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Monday morning. In Lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Sarah Wilberta Ogden.
