Lawrence "Larry" Osterhaus

Lawrence J. “Larry” Osterhaus, age 69, of Glen Haven, WI passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon July 30, 2022, in Cassville Township Grant County, WI. He was born on April 17, 1953, in Prairie du Chien the son of Carl and Kathleen (Kuenster) Osterhaus. Due to the untimely death of his mother, Larry received a mother figure in Linda. He was united in marriage to the “love of his life”, Cindy Ploessl on January 31, 1976, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glen Haven.

Larry graduated from Bloomington High School and after graduation, he continued his passion for farming and working with cattle throughout his entire life. Along with operating his own farm, Larry bought and sold cattle for the Bloomington Livestock, and was a feed specialist for Big Gain Inc. for many years. Larry enjoyed every minute he had sitting in his sprayer or in his tractor mowing all the field hollows and road banks. He liked going for Jeep and UTV rides along with visiting with friends and maybe grabbing a “Treat”, and often having “Just One More”. Larry’s dedication to his family and community along with his quick wit will be forever cherished. He was a selfless man who was always thinking of others. He adored his grandchildren and loved supporting all their endeavors along with spending time with them on the farm. He was one proud Papa. He also enjoyed cheering on his beloved Brewers and Packers. Larry’s family will take comfort in his untimely death that there was a special reuniting with his mother and son “Bud”.

Larry is survived by his wife Cindy of Glen Haven, two daughters; Holly (Jared) Crubel and Lyndsey (Phil) Miles all of Glen Haven, four awesome grandchildren; Blake and Sadie Crubel, and Riley and Korbin Miles, his parents Carl and Linda Osterhaus of Dickeyville, stepbrother John (Tara) Donovan of Hazel Green, brother and sister-in-law’s; Wayne (Colleen) Ploessl of Cassville, and Roger (Barb) Ploessl of Glen Haven.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother Kathleen, son Dustin “Bud” Osterhaus, paternal grandparents Joe and Rose Osterhaus, maternal grandparents Lawrence and Catherine Kuenster, mother-in-law and father-in-law Ralph and Margaret Ploessl, brother and sister-in-law’s Denny and Bruce Ploessl, and Nancy Grabow and his dog, who went everywhere with him, “Tikka”.

A “Private” Mass of Christian burial will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Burial will be held at the Gockel Cemetery in Glen Haven at a later date. A “Celebration of Life” with food and fellowship will be held from 12:00 noon until 5:00 P.M. on Saturday August 20, 2022, at the “Farm Shop” located at 8539 County Road VV in Glen Haven, WI 53810. The family encourages guests to wear their John Deere or Green Bay Packer apparel. The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore is assisting the family.
