Joyce I. Grundy

Joyce I. Grundy, age 91, of Dodgeville, WI died on Monday March 25, 2019 at the U.W. Hospital in Madison. Joyce was born on December 11, 1927, on the family farm in Liberty Township Grant County, WI, the daughter of Harrison and Elsie (Ellis) Allen. She was a descended of the early pioneers of Grant Co., WI. Joyce was united in marriage to Clarence “Punk” Grundy on Feb. 11, 1947 in Dubuque, IA.

Joyce attended Dodgeville High School and then began working for numerous businesses throughout the area. She worked at Burgess Battery in Mineral Point, Cobb Canning Factory, Amphenol Control of Dodgeville, and at Silicon Sensors in Dodgeville; working well in to her 70’s. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, cooking, politics, and listening to Christian gospel music. Joyce loved to share family stories from the past and was very proud of her family heritage. She also took great pride in her family, even taking the time to teach the grandchildren how to read. Joyce will be remembered for her wonderful dedication to her family and her Lord.

Joyce is survived by her two children; Karen Jenkins and James Grundy both of Dodgeville, son-in-law Gary King of Arena, 14 grandchildren; Dean Jenkins of Dodgeville, Rick (Dewan) Jenkins of Dodgeville, Gina (Ricky) McMannes of Highland, Brian (LeAnn) Jenkins of Dodgeville, Jody (Allen) Ramminger of Lodi, Julie (Jeff) Goold of McKinney, TX, Joel Kitsemble of Las Vegas, NV, twins; Joy Kitsemble of McKinney, TX, and Jessica Kitsemble of Frisco, TX, Angela (Chad) Mason of Arena, Joyce (Clayton) Mason of Arena, Crystal King of Arena, Daniel (Sarah “Sonny”) King of Mattoon, IL, Gary (Maggie) King Jr. of Effingham, IL, 24 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence on Feb. 16, 1977, two children; Mary Kitsemble on Dec. 3, 2009, Kathy King on May 6, 2016, two son-in-laws; Roger Kitsemble of Oct. 31, 2005, Larry Jenkins on July 3, 2013, brother Murl Allen, sister Arlene Lequae, and an infant brother Leslie Allen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday afternoon March 30, 2019, at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with burial to follow in the Linden Cemetery in Linden, WI. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home on Saturday morning. The Soman-Larson Funeral Home of Montfort is assisting the family. Thank our Lord, Jesus Christ, for his Grace, Mercy and Loving Kindness.
