Henry Charles Hawkinson

Henry Charles Hawkinson died peacefully at home in Rewey, WI on Saturday morning February 16, 2019 at the age of 87. He was born to Ole and Susie (Benson) Shaw Hawkinson on July 9, 1931 in Gratiot, WI. Henry grew up on a farm outside of Gratiot where he attended a rural country school. He graduated from Gratiot High School.

Henry married Alice Walrack on November 13, 1954. Alice passed away due to a long illness in May of 1991. Henry then married Betty Stivarius on September 23, 1991.

Henry was a farmer, carpenter, factory worker, and driver. He worked at Darlington Feed Mill & Gas Station, farmed with Max Ernster, Naftzer Farms, and Dave Hawkinson, Wolf Construction, Badger Ordinance Plant, John Deere in Dubuque, Swiss Colony in Monroe, Bakers Pig Operation in Stitzer, and Cobb Shipping Service in Rewey. Henry was affiliated with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Fennimore, WI. He was baptized on May 13, 1995 in Janesville, WI.

Henry is survived by his wife, Betty Hawkinson of Rewey, WI, children; James Knudson of Monroe, WI, David (Linda) Hawkinson of Gays Mills, WI, Betty Hawkinson (daughter-in-law), Susan (Clarence) Martin of Monroe, WI, Larry Hawkinson of Platteville, WI, Linda Hawkinson of Broadhead, WI, Carla Watts of Oakfield, WI, Robert (Colette) Stivarius of Livingston, WI, 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by his first wife Alice Walrack Knudson Hawkinson, son Charles Hawkinson, two daughters; Donna Green and Judy Piette, four grandchildren; Timothy Hawkinson, Alan Green, Rita Piette, and Eric Steiner, and two son-in-laws; Dale Belke and Jason Watts.

A Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday Feb. 23, 2019 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with burial of the cremated remains to be held at a later date at the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on at the funeral home on Saturday morning.
