Florence E. Martin

Florence E. Martin, age 95, of Lancaster formerly of Stitzer passed away on Friday morning May 10, 2019, at the Orchard Manor in Lancaster. She was born on June 17, 1923 in Stitzer the daughter of John and Mary (Wiest) Bennett. Florence was united in marriage to Glen Martin on November 24, 1943 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster.

Florence farmed beside her husband for over 40 years in Liberty Township Grant County. They retired from farming in 1988 and moved to Stitzer. After the death of Glen, Florence moved to Lancaster in 1998 where she had been currently residing. Florence loved gardening, canning, watching birds, and truly enjoyed the simple life. She adored her grandchildren and liked going to area fairs and attending cattle shows.

Florence is survived by her two daughters; Charlene Martin of Potosi, Brenda Martin and Bryan Everson of Stitzer, five grandchildren; Terry (Christine) Kippley of North Port, NY, Cindy Kippley of Melbourne, FL, Denise (Donald) Kruchten of Lodi, Ora Lee (Joel) Gerstner of Waukesha, Becky (Mark) Brown of Fennimore, eight great grandchildren; Katie, Anna, John, McKenzie, Kaelyn, Emma, Alex and Grace, two sisters; Marcella Hale of Rockton, IL, Mildred Churchill of Janesville, three sister-in-laws; Mary Bennett of Footville, Rethel Schuppener of Stitzer, Shirley Winkler of Lancaster along with several nieces and nephews.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen on Sept. 20, 1993, daughter and son-in-law Sandra and David Leuthold, four sisters and their spouses; Marjorie (Richard) Dailey, Katherine (Eugene) Anderson, Agnes (Elwood) Kramar, Marie (Steven) Gestrich, two brothers; Herbert and Charles Bennett; four brother-in-laws; Raymond Hale, Leon Churchill, Lloyd Schuppener and Harlan Winkler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday May 13, 2019, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
