Fennimore – Wilma V. Peterson, age 89 of Fennimore, died on Tuesday morning Sept. 2, 2014 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. Wilma was born on Feb. 27, 1925 in Clifton Twsp., Grant Co., WI the daughter of Frank and Emma (Weisheit) Powell. She married Rev. LeRoy Peterson on June 21, 1975 at Castle Rock Lutheran Church.
Wilma grew up at Liberty Ridge and was confirmed at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. She received her nurses training and worked as a CNA for 29 years, retiring from the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society in 1985. Wilma enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking homemade rolls, and fishing, but her greatest joys came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always looked forward to family gatherings at her home in Fennimore. Grandma Pete’s love of family and faithfulness to her lord will forever be cherished.
Wilma is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years LeRoy of Fennimore, three children; Elaine (Gary) Kreul of Fennimore, Linda (Jim) Lepeska of Montfort, and Eugene Christopherson of Waukegan, IL, nine grandchildren; Darren (Kathy) Kreul of Fennimore, Darci Byrne of Dodgeville, Darrick (Stacy) Kreul of Mt. Horeb, Lisa (Rob) Edge of Mineral Point, Paul (Traci) Havlik of Cobb, WI, Michael (Tammy) Havlik of Highland, Erika (Michael) Kelley of Stitzer, Kristen (Brent) Nelson of Mineral Point, and Ryan Lepeska of Montfort, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Dale Havlik, brothers Karl Powell and Charles Powell, and sister Mildred Christopherson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Sat. Sept. 6, 2014 at Castle Rock Lutheran Church in Hickory Grove Twsp. with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday evening Sept. 5, 2014 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning.
