Ruth A. Noyes

Ruth A. Noyes, age 88, of Montfort, died on Sunday morning Jan. 29, 2017, at her residence in Montfort. Ruth was born on Oct. 3, 1928, in Montfort, WI the daughter of Wesley and Anna (Frolik) Washburn. She married Vilas Noyes on June 12, 1948 at the Montfort United Methodist Church.

Ruth graduated as valedictorian from Livingston High School in 1946. She then attended Business College in Madison and worked as a bookkeeper at Bancroft Dairy. Ruth and Vilas moved back to Montfort to farm with her folks beginning in 1949. In 1951, they began renting a farm in the Platteville area until 1961 when together they purchased the farm outside of Stitzer in which they owned until selling in 2002. Ruth and Vilas moved into Montfort in 1986, but continued to be active on the farm. Ruth was a member of the Montfort United Methodist Church, the Ebenezer Ladies Club and was an active leader with the Stitzer Go-Getters 4-H Club. She enjoyed gardening, baking her famous chocolate chip cookies and making fresh squeezed apple cider. Ruth and Vilas enjoyed traveling together on several mission trips, and to numerous places to visit family.

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband Vilas of Montfort, daughter Barbara (John) Brown and their daughter Katie Brown of Houston, TX, son Ken (Kathy) Noyes of Barneveld with children Karl Noyes and his daughter Makala of Rewey, Kris Noyes of Rewey, Kurt (Jessie) Noyes of Altoona, WI and Kari (Joe) Panozzo and their children Dawson Panozzo and Breanne Kieler of Dodgeville, daughter-in-law Diana Mertz Noyes of Claremont, CA with children Kristen (Mike) Dorsey and their children Gavin and Meghan of Chino, CA, and Melissa (Kevin) Boquet and their children Cody and Kyle of Eagle River, Alaska. Ruth is also survived by a sister Francis Sime of Platteville, brother Eugene (Marty) Washburn of Menomonee Falls, WI, and sister-in-laws Mary Washburn of Livingston and Carol Washburn of Rockford, IL.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, son Daniel Noyes in 1990, brothers Fred and Carl Washburn and sister Beulah Washburn.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at the Montfort United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Montfort. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening Feb. 2, 2017, at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning.
