Ruth A. Kabele, age 89, of Platteville, WI, went to be with her Lord on March 16, 2016, at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. Ruth was born on Dec. 6, 1926, in Elk Grove, WI, the daughter of Karl and Sophia (Masbruch) Klinge. She married Donald R. Kabele on June 17, 1948. They raised three children and a nephew, David Klinge, during his preschool years.
Ruth attended Cottage Inn Rural School and Belmont High School, with additional training at Bayless Business College, Dubuque, IA, and Southwest Tech in Fennimore. She worked at Mound City Bank and the Platteville Hospital and Nursing Home. She was baptized and confirmed and was an active member of the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville. She served on the Church Council and was bookkeeper; she was president of the ALCW and on the women’s district and conference boards. She taught the Bethel Series, Sunday School and Catechism. She served her family and her God, was active in services for the community, and enjoyed bowling.
Ruth is survived by her three daughters; Marlyn (Robert) Johnston of Lincoln, ND, Diane (Gary) Cook of Gardner, KS, and Jean (Scott) Napp of Stitzer, 11grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister Betty Dolphin of Platteville.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, sister Helen Heins, and brothers Albert, George, Leo and Roy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday March 23, 2016 at Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville with burial to follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Platteville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday morning and in lieu of plants and flowers memorials may be made to the Ruth Kabele Memorial Fund. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
