Richard D. Havlik

Richard HavlikMontfort, WI-Richard David Havlik, age 72, went home to join his son, Dale, on Tuesday morning August 23, 2016. Richard was born on April 14, 1944 in Boscobel the son of Sam and Mary (Volenec) Havlik. He was raised on the family farm and completed eight grades in the one room Oak Grove School. He graduated from Iowa-Grant High School in 1962 part of the second class to graduate from the consolidated school. After graduation, Richard attended Dubuque Beauty Academy in Dubuque, IA. He relocated to Richland Center and opened the House of Richard Salon. He then opened salons in Montfort, Lone Rock, Muscoda, and purchased Huffmans Beauty Salon in Richland Center.

Richard was appointed by Governor Lucey to the Department of Regulation and Licensing Board where he served as Vice-President for eight years. He also served as a Cosmetology Examiner for over 16 years. After selling his salons, Richard and wife established the Grab a Cone ice cream stand in Montfort and a few years later the Arthur Haus Supper Club in Arthur. Years later, he returned to barbering opening Downtown Barber and Beauty working side by side with his wife, Cheryl, for 20 years. Richard and Cheryl (Tews) married on Feb. 15, 1987 in West Allis.

Richard is survived by his best friend and wife Cheryl, brother-in-law Daryl (Carol) Tews, nephew Riley Tews and nieces Hayley Tews and Diane Kappe, and leaves behind his Great Danes; Rusty and Rosie.

Richard was preceded in death by his son Dale, his parents Sam and Mary Havlik, in-laws Vernon and Gertrude Tews, brother Leo Havlik, sister-in-law-Rita Havlik and a nephew-in-law Gary Kappe

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday Aug. 27, 2016 at the Montfort United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Montfort. Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday Aug. 26, 2016 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Saturday morning.
