Norman W. Nagel

Norman NagelCobb, WI-Norman W. Nagel, age 84, died on Tuesday afternoon March 24, 2015 at Upland Hills Health & Rehabilitation. Norman was born on Feb. 21, 1931 in Dodgeville the son of Melvin and Amy (Merritt) Nagel. He was united in marriage to June Billings on Dec. 5, 1964 in Cobb.

Norman graduated from Cobb High School where he excelled in basketball. He farmed his entire life on the family farm in Linden Township, which was recognized as a Century Farm in 2005. He loved the outdoors and was a steward of the land. When work was done around the farm, Norman enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, and planting flowers. Norman enjoyed watching the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers, playing cards, traveling, and fishing with his family. He also liked going to auctions and sharing stories about the past. He was an awesome family man who supported everyone’s activities as their #1 Fan. Norman was a member of the Cobb United Methodist Church, Cobb Lions Club, and enjoyed helping with community events along with working at the food pantry and helping deliver meals on wheels.

Norman is survived by his wife June of Cobb, two children; Sarah (Jason) Britt of Plymouth, Peter (Joanie) Nagel of Mt. Horeb, four grandchildren; Natalie and Carolyn Britt, and Owen and Zelah Nagel, three sisters; Mildred Bowen of DeForest, Carolyn Nagel-Thomas of Cobb, Evelyn (David) Wagner of Surprise, AZ, brother Everett (Pat) Nagel of St. Louis, MO and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Nagel, sister Elaine Nagel, sister-in-law Delores Nagel, four brother-in-laws; Albert Thomas, Ken Gronemeyer, Bill Bowen, and James Billings.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday afternoon April 18, 2015 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with Pastor Peter Berg officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Norman W. Nagel. A heartfelt “Thank You” to the Upland Hills Health & Rehabilitation and Upland Hills Hospice program for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Norman and our entire family.
