Norma Neuroth

Norma Neuroth, age 98, of Fennimore, died on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Norma was born on Oct. 19, 1919, at home in North Lancaster Township, Grant County, WI, the daughter of Oliver and Ruth (Wagner) Alexander. She was united in marriage to Charles Neuroth on Feb. 16, 1944 in rural Fennimore.

Norma lived all but the last nine years of her life within the same one mile stretch of Mt. Ridge Road. Her father died when she was seven years old leaving Norma, along with her mother and sister, to continue farming. The work ethic she learned as a young girl continued with her each and every day, as Norma was always busy with work, chores at home or helping others. She attended teachers college in Platteville and taught in various rural schools before starting her own family. She later obtained a bachelor degree from UW- Platteville and returned to teaching in 1965 at Lancaster Middle School while continuing to farm alongside her husband Charles. Norma retired from full time teaching in 1986, but continued as a substitute teacher into her late 70’s. She loved working outside in her yard and gardens, playing cards, sewing and volunteering at the local museums and church. She cherished spending time with her family and looked forward to gathering for holidays and special occasions. Her strong faith, work ethic and devotion to family will live on through her children and grandchildren.

Norma is survived by three children; Ann (Dave) Schneider of Brookfield, WI, Doug Neuroth (Pam Bausch) of Fennimore and Laura (Jim) Kloosterboer of Fennimore, daughter-in-law Laurie Neuroth of Fennimore, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; Kevin (Kristin) Schneider of Menomonee Falls and their children, Katlyn, Kelli, and Kari; Beth (Darren) Dewing of Menomonee Falls and their children, Megan and Cameron; Kim (Jeff) Maples of Brookfield and their children, Samantha, Ashley, and Taylor; Craig and wife Heidi Bosch Neuroth of Verona and their children, Logan and Will; Corey (Shari) Neuroth of Fennimore and their children, Trevor and Breelyn; Curt (Jena) Neuroth of Stitzer and their son Jacob; Matt Tollefson of Fennimore and his son Whitley; Mitch (Natalie) Tollefson of Fennimore and their children Trenton and Allie; Erin Neuroth of Dubuque, IA, and Ben Neuroth (Fiancé Morgan Hach) of Fennimore; and two special nieces, Gail (Bob) Shimpach of Boscobel, and Patti (Ron) Gobeli of Texas.
