Lory J. Fordney, age 63, of Fennimore, died unexpectedly on Sunday August 14, 2016, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Lory was born on April 26, 1953, in Fennimore the daughter of Russell and Eileen (Huffman) Fordney.
Lory graduated from Fennimore High School in 1971 and then moved to Madison where she attended cosmetology school. Lory had an amazing talent in hair coloring and styling and worked as a beautician for 25 years at JC Penny in East Towne Mall. Lory later moved back to Fennimore but continued working in Madison, in addition to being employed with Land’s End in Dodgeville in the monogramming and hemming departments. She gained many wonderful friendships at Land’s End and was currently employed there at the time of her passing. Lory’s creativity was evidenced in everything she did including her colorful craft projects and in the vibrant make-up and unique hairstyles she created while assisting with numerous dance recitals. The greatest joys in her life came while spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren. Her infectious smile and soul-warming laugh will forever be cherished.
Lory is survived by her beloved daughter Brittnee (Scott) Peterson of Fennimore, two grandchildren Brynn and Treysen Peterson, siblings; Mike (Norma) Fordney of Fennimore, Pattie Wells of Fennimore, Joy (Mike) Baker of Vero Beach,FL and Dixie (Al) Bock of Dubuque, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lory was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lynn Fordney and stepfather Kenneth Seim.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday August 18, 2016, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening August 17, 2016, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Thursday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Lory J. Fordney.
