LaVaun Darlene Foley

LaVaun FoleyFennimore- LaVaun Darlene Foley, age 82, died on Sunday evening Jan. 25, 2015 at her residence in Mt. Ida Township, Grant Co., WI following a long battle with cancer.  LaVaun was born on Feb. 8, 1932 in Fennimore to Harold “Spot” and Velma (Tollefson) Bray.  She married Clifton Foley on Oct. 2, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

Following graduation from Fennimore High School, LaVaun made popcorn at the theater in Fennimore and waitressed at the Manhattan in Boscobel, and Fennimore Hills in Fennimore.  LaVaun loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherwoman. She also enjoyed hunting for morel mushrooms, asparagus, and horseradish.  LaVaun was a great cook, especially of the wild game she brought home, and enjoyed canning and sharing recipes with family and friends. She was also an avid dancer and cherished spending time with her grandchildren and the companionship of her beloved dog Maggie. The family would like to give a special thank you to Chris Lewis, Randy White, Tyson Clark, and John and Darlene Vogt for the help provided to LaVaun through the years of her declining health.

LaVaun is survived by her son Tim Foley of Dodgeville and three grandchildren; Aaron, Casey, and Carrie Foley, and daughter Pamela (Dennis) Spurley of Stitzer and two grandchildren; Scott Heberlein (Kathy Smith) of Stitzer, and Tesha (Codrin) Daranga of Madison, MS.  LaVaun is also survived by three siblings; Arlene Bowers of Dodgeville, David Bray (Jo Don Anderson) of Fennimore, and Susan (Merv) Wehnke of Platteville.

LaVaun was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifton Foley on April 21, 1982, and special friend Jake Trumm.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening Jan. 30, 2015 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore.   Pastor Charles Miller with St. Peter Lutheran Church will be officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will follow at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday Jan. 31, 2015 in the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore.  In Lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of LaVaun D. Foley.
