Jerry D. Ketterer

Jerry KettererFennimore – Jerry D. Ketterer, age 76, died unexpectedly on Thursday morning July 3, 2014 at his residence in rural Fennimore.  Jerry was born on May 23, 1938 in Lancaster, WI the son of Donald and Mildred (Riggs) Ketterer.  He married Marilyn Kreul on Aug 31, 1957 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore.

Jerry farmed and lived in Hickory Grove Township his entire life.  He first took over his family farm at the age of 17 following the untimely death of his father.  In 1962,   they moved to Marilyn’s family farm which they later sold to their son Doug.  He truly loved farming, working the land, and his John Deere Tractors. Jerry visited the farm daily and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  When not busy on the farm, Jerry loved going for leisurely rides throughout the countryside to visit neighbors and to see what was happening.  He also loved his grandchildren and found great joy in attending their sporting events and took pride in being the first one there. Jerry enjoyed watching the Packers and Badgers on T.V., however he was quick to change the channel when things went bad.  Jerry’s love for family, calm and patient demeanor, and easy-going attitude will forever be cherished.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn of Fennimore, three children; Jeff (Michelle) Ketterer of Dubuque, IA, Doug Ketterer of Fennimore, and Lori (Tom) Needham of Fennimore, three grandchildren; Alexi, Brett, and Cole Needham, and six step-grandchildren; Mathew, Krystal, Tiffany, Brooke, Dallas, and Nathan, brother Dick (Rita) Ketterer of Fennimore, sister Kathy (Tim) Tiffany of Waunakee, and several nieces and a nephew.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Jim Smith.
