Ivan A. Hollenberger

Ivan A HollenbergerLake Mills, WI-Ivan Arnold Hollenberger, age 75, died on Monday May 12, 2014 at Freedom Plaza Care Center in Peoria, AZ after a brief battle with pneumonia. Ivan was born on Dec. 18, 1938 in Dubuque, IA the son of Joseph & Goldie (Nickel) Hollenberger. He was united in marriage to Nancy Kappel on May 7, 1960 in Lake Mills.

Following graduation from high school, Ivan attended U.W. Platteville. He moved to Lake Mills and worked at various small jobs until being hired at BouMatic Dairy in Madison as a welder for 36 years. Ivan also farmed in rural Lake Mills where he enjoyed raising his family, working with livestock, and planting his crops. Ivan believed in the simple life and an honest days work. After his retirement, Ivan and Nancy Enjoyed wintering in Arizona for the past 6 years, playing euchre, and cribbage and going camping throughout Wisconsin. They also loved getting together with family, enjoying many conversations with laughs while watching his family grow.

Ivan is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Nancy Hollenberger of Lake Mills, six children; Ivan Jr. (Kim) Hollenberger of Jefferson, Barbara (Bob) Bliss of Phoenix, AZ, Laura Hollenberger of Jefferson, David (Lisa) Hollenberger of Johnson Creek, Robert (Mary) Hollenberger of Palmyra, Jim (Jennifer) Hollenberger of Waterloo, and 9 grandchildren. Ivan is also survived by his two brothers; Earl (Linda) Hollenberger of Platteville, and Walter (Mabel) Hollenberger of Naples, FL, a brother-in-law Ralph Eisele of Lake Mills along with several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Joseph Jr. (Kazuko) Hollenberger, and two sisters; Lois Carlson and Shirley Eisele.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Friday May 23, 2014 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday morning. In Lieu of plants and flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ivan’s name to donator's favorite charity.
