Harold R. Munns

Harold MunnsFennimore, WI-Harold R. Munns, age 89 died on Tuesday morning Oct. 7, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his beloved family. Harold was born on Dec. 10, 1924 in Mt. Ida Township, Grant Co. the son of Wilson and Orva (Simons) Munns. Harold was united in marriage to Bette Collins on Dec. 30, 1956 in Dubuque, IA.

Harold graduated from Fennimore High School in 1946.  He was dedicated to his family and helped run the farm along with working at the Fennimore Lumber Co. He was also employed about 50 years for Rossing Construction in Fennimore until his retirement. He believed in working hard each day and was sure to instill this quality in his children and was very proud of his family’s accomplishments. Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, dancing, boating and camping. He and Bette had 33 wonderful years camping at Lake Neshonoc in West Salem until moving their camping trips to Prairie du Chien. Harold was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church were he held positions on the church council. Harold was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather that was truly dedicated to faith, family and his work.

Harold is survived by his wife Bette Munns of Fennimore, three children; Cheryll (Mike) Jeidy of Wauzeka, Rick (Vicki) Munns of Lancaster, Rhonda (Robert) Arndt of Fennimore, 6 grandchildren; Jason (Dana) Baumgartner, Philip (Danielle) Baumgartner, Sara Jeidy, Jennifer (Paul) Reid, Trevor Munns, Nichole Day and 7 great grandchild, brother Gerald Munns of Fennimore, and sister June (John) Rewey of Dodgeville.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Bruce Baumgartner, two brothers, Virgil and Richard Munns, and sister Blanche Kolaski.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday Oct. 10, 2014 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Thursday Oct. 9, 2014 at the Larson Family Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Friday morning.
