Harley L. Johnson

Harley JohnsonHarley L. Johnson, age 68 of Milton, died on Friday Sept. 26, 2014 after a battle with cancer at his sister Janette Spitzbarth’s residence in rural Fennimore.  Harley was born on March 9, 1946 in Fennimore Township, the son of Virgil and Ann (Udelhoven) Johnson.

Following graduation from Fennimore High School, Harley worked for a short time at John Deere then began a career at GM in Janesville, WI until retiring as the Dock Manager. He proudly served in the US Army from 1966-1968.  Harley had a passion for hunting and had a wonderful collection of mounts from his hunting expeditions. He also enjoyed collecting and trading collectables.   Harley was a very giving and generous man whose humor, wit, and deal making skills will forever be cherished.

Harley is survived by his sisters; Janette Spitzbarth of Fennimore and June Stenner of Verona, many special nieces and nephews, and companion Linda Ford of Milton.

Harley was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Charles Spitzbarth, and nephew Michael Spitzbarth.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Oct. 1, 2014 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Prairie Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday morning.
