Glennie M. Rewey

Lancaster – Glennie Marie Rewey, age 96, of Lancaster, formerly of Fennimore, died on Monday Feb. 20, 2017, while a resident of Orchard Manor, Lancaster.

Glennie was born August 12, 1920, the daughter of Roy and Ethel (Culver) Klinger. She married the love of her life George Clark Rewey June 30, 1951 in Dubuque, IA.

Glennie will be remembered by her smile, chocolate chip cookies, banana bread and a friendly wave from her kitchen window. One would never know what she’d say with her quirky remarks. While living in Madison, Glennie was a waitress in many well-known supper clubs of the time; Hoffman House, Cuba Club, Hogan’s and Herbie’s. She always called herself a tip-top waitress. If you didn’t tip her, she’d blow her top! She was a cosmetician at Rennebohn’s and managed the card/candy store J.M.C. Glennie enjoyed canning, collecting roosters and spending time with her grandchildren. Her family was her world.

Glennie is survived by her two sons; Larry McDowell of Madison and Robert (Peggy) Rewey of Cassville, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, sister Loretta Schmitt of Sheboygan Falls, brother-in-law Dick (Betsy) Rewey of McFarland, sister-in-laws, Wilma Wilkinson of Boscobel and June Rewey of Dodgeville and many nieces and nephews.

Glennie was preceded in death by her husband Clark, two daughters, Loretta Jean Swenson and Karen Dougherty, son-in-law Bill Dougherty, her parents, father and mother-in-law, Ed and Ruth Rewey, four sisters and three brothers.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Morningside Assisted Living and Orchard Manor. They greatly appreciate all the loving care you gave to her. It will never be forgotten!

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday Feb. 25, 2017 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning.
