Francis "Michael" Lenz

Francis “Michael” Lenz, age 26 of Lancaster, joined the angels in heaven on Friday morning Dec. 8, 2017, in an accidental house fire at his residence in Fennimore. Michael was born on Jan. 7, 1991 in Dubuque, IA the son of Francis J. and Sandra (Winkers) Lenz.

Michael graduated from Platteville High School in 2009 and then received his degree from the Southwest Technical College as a lineman. He worked underground construction for Holtger Bros. Inc. for a short time until being employed by Mi-Tech as a field engineer for a couple of years, where he created a lasting friendship with his coworker Brandon. After which, he joined his cousins working on the family farm, the Flying W, last year. He also enjoyed farming, and being mischievous with his cousin Ben. He loved sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Braves, and four-wheeling with the family Muddy Badgers ATV Club. He also liked hunting, doing electrical work with his dad and carpentry work with his Uncle Pete. Michael was a charismatic, delightful young gentleman that was easy to talk to and was a joy to be around.

Michael is survived by his son Owen Francis Lenz, parents Francis and Sandra Lenz of Lancaster, sister Jennifer Lenz of Wake Forest, NC, formerly of Platteville, grandparents Carl and Bess Winkers of Fennimore along with many special aunts, uncles, cousins, especially his beloved God daughter Mackenzie Winkers, along with Owen’s half brothers; Brennan and Parker and their mother and friend of Michael’s Kayla.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents Donald and Marie Lenz and a very special uncle Lyle Lenz and aunt Dorothy Beechey.

Prayer service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday Dec. 15, 2017, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall in Fennimore with burial to follow in the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Liberty Ridge Township Grant Co., WI. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church hall on Friday morning. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
