Eugene E. Oechsle

Fennimore, WI - Eugene E. Oechsle, age 76, died on Monday morning Jan. 16, 2017 at his residence in Fennimore surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 13, 1940 in Mt. Ida Township Grant Co., WI the son of William and Erika (Zimmermann) Oechsle. Eugene was united in marriage to Eldeen Maag on Oct. 12, 1963.

Eugene graduated from Fennimore High School in 1958 and then went to work on the family farm, which was his passion. Eugene’s greatest accomplishment in life was raising his family with the help of his selfless and giving wife. Together they farmed in Mt. Ida Township until selling the farm to his son and moving to Fennimore. Eugene still went to the farm daily until Parkinson’s disease prevented him from going. Eugene’s faith was very important to him. He taught Sunday school and served on the Church Council as President and Financial Secretary for many years. Eugene also served on the Fennimore School Board for 12 years and was a delegate to Wisconsin Dairies. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with family for meals and gatherings and traveling to Germany to visit family. Eugene was deeply honored to be the godfather to Dan Allen, Debra Kurek, Rebekka Stark, Judy Wagner and Steven Adney. Eugene adored his family; his children and grandchildren were the joys of his life. He truly loved when they would come and stay with him and always looked forward to their visits.

Eugene is survived by his beloved wife and devoted caregiver Eldeen of Fennimore, four children; Lisa (EJ) Lillesand of Sheboygan Falls, Tim (Cheryl) Oechsle, Randy Oechsle, Robert (Cathy) Oechsle all of Fennimore; five grandchildren, Sarah Lillesand, Jacob and Levi Oechsle and Kristen and Brandi Oechsle, brother Henry (Margaret) Oechsle of Fennimore, four sisters; Bertha Allen of Platteville, Gertrude (Milton) Staskal of New London, Anne Rowe of Del Ray Beach, FL and Elizabeth (Roger) Lehmann of Harvard, IL.
