Ervin M. Prochaska

Ervin ProchaskaMontfort – Ervin M. Prochaska, age 82, of Montfort, died on Saturday morning Dec. 26, 2015 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. Ervin was born on Oct. 14, 1933 in Castle Rock Township, Grant County, WI the son of Ed and Mayme (Nechvatal) Prochaska. He married Jean Schultz in 1963 in Greendale, WI.

Ervin excelled in football and basketball at Montfort High School, graduating in 1952. Following graduation, he farmed with his brother Lavern on Snowbottom Road until joining the U.S. Army in 1954. Upon returning from the Army in 1956, Ervin went to work for Earl Droessler in construction. Ervin enjoyed the challenges that construction presented and took great pride in his work. Starting in 1969, in addition to construction, he began raising beef and hogs and continued until selling the animals in 2000 due to his health. Ervin was a very approachable and knowledgeable man who loved to visit and tell stories and was never afraid to tell it like it is. He enjoyed singing in the choir at St. John’s Catholic Church, playing cards, dancing, watching the Packers and Badgers and making fudge. He was very proud of his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments and his brutal honesty will forever be cherished.

Ervin is survived by his wife Jean of Montfort, four children and nine grandchildren; Barb (Pat) Kroll of Highland with children Stephanie and Jason, Andy (Jane) Prochaska of Cross Plains with children Danielle and Evan, Mike (Teresa) Prochaska of Spring Green with children Adam, Alex and Hunter, and Dan (Stacy) Prochaska of Dodgeville with children Bryce and Abby, sisters; Roselyn (Guerdon) Voigts of Belmont, Rita Imhoff of Highland and Mary Ellen Bowers of Montfort, and brother-in-law Pat Thym of Dodgeville.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bernard and Lavern and sister Loretta Thym.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Dec. 30, 2015 at Saints Anthony and Philip Catholic Church in Highland. Burial with military honors will follow in St. John Nepomuc Catholic Church Cemetery in Castle Rock Township, Grant County, WI. Father Jim Murphy will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening Dec. 29, 2015 at Saints Anthony and Philip Catholic Church in Highland and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday morning. The Soman-Larson Funeral Home of Montfort is assisting the family.
