Stitzer – Donald L. Johnson, age 86, died on Tuesday Sept. 9, 2014 at his residence in Stitzer. Donald was born on June 12, 1928 in Mount Vernon, WI the son of LaVerne and Hazel (Harker) Johnson. He married Beverly Rue on Nov. 19, 1982 in Madison, WI.
Don was always a very hard worker. During his younger years, he farmed with his family in Mount Vernon and later worked for Verona Redi-Mix and Capital Redi-Mix until his retirement. Don also kept busy on nights and weekends doing a lot of side work in the concrete business. While at home, Don enjoyed listening to Swiss and polka music, reading the paper, puttering around in his shed, and visiting with his many neighbors in Stitzer. Together Don and Beverly enjoyed dancing the waltz and cherished the many years spent together wintering in Florida.
Don is survived by his wife Beverly of Stitzer, three step-children; Tim (Cindy Bray) Myers of Lafayette, TN, Terry (Linda) Myers of Boscobel, and Christine Myers of Lodi, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister Marlene Sarbacker of Belleville, brother-in-law Jim Rue of Muscoda, and many special nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday Sept. 12, 2014 at the Stitzer United Methodist Church in Stitzer. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Springdale Twsp. Dane Co., WI. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning.
