Donald D. Noyes

Donald Delbert Noyes, age 86, left this world to go RVing with his beloved wife, Alice Faye, on May 11, 2017 in Fennimore. Don passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born April 7, 1931 in the Town of Germantown, Juneau County, to Roy H. and Alma (Runkel) Noyes, the fifth child of six in the family. The family moved from Juneau County to Grant County in the late thirties and went to many schools in Grant County. He enjoyed pointing out the different areas in which he lived.

Don graduated from Fennimore High School in 1949. He joined the Navy from Dec. 7, 1950 until Oct. 1, 1954, serving aboard the USS Yorktown during the Korean War. He was hoping to sail around the Cape of Good Hope and onto Australia. When he returned to Wisconsin after serving his beloved country, he was reintroduced to the woman who would become the love of his life, Alice Faye Feakes. They were married on April 20, 1956.

He worked in Beloit for a year before taking work at John Deere for 27 years until he retired in 1987.

After retiring from Deere, he spent his time RVing around the country with Alice and spent the majority of their winters in Yuma, AZ. Keeping busy, he worked many jobs from delivering pizzas to schools, saw blades to saw mills, and mowed the Prairie Cemetery for 10 years.

He was a 50 member of the Local Masonic Lodge earning the rank of Grand Master.

Don is survived by his four children; Jeff (Deb) Noyes, Diane Noyes, Sue Noyes, and Phil (Sally Lerum) Noyes, seven grandchildren; Jesse (Michelle) Noyes, Shannon (Jeff) Engel, Tania (Josiah) Pledl, and Jason Noyes; Katie, Jenny, and Sarah Noyes, three great grandchildren; Henley and Hudson Engel and Andrew Noyes, brothers; Vilas, LeRoy, and Fred (Marlene) Noyes, brothers-in-law, Harold (Carol) Hovorka, Glen (Joncee) Feakes, sisters-in-law; Lela Murray, Lavonne (Roy) Peterson, Joyce Harris, and Donna Glasbrenner, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, sisters; June Coppernall and Carol Hovorka, and his parents, sisters-in-law; Ruth Noyes and Shirley Noyes, brothers-in-law, John Murray, James Glasbrenner, Bud Harris, Hilman Coppernall, and Alvin Copus.

The family would like to thank Grant County Hospice, especially Tracy, for their caring support. They also would like to thank Don’s many friends, neighbors and relatives who showed their support during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday May 16, 2017, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday May 15, 2017, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore where a Masonic service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday evening. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Tuesday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be given to Grant County Hospice in loving memory of Donald D. Noyes.
