Fennimore/Werley-Daniel J. “Dan” Jones, age 61, passed away suddenly on Saturday afternoon May 7, 2016 doing one of the things he enjoyed most, riding his Harley (Ridin’ and a Glidin’). Dan was born on Sept. 28, 1954 in Crawford Co. the son of Paul and Estelle (Smith) Jones. He was united in marriage to Joanne “Jo” Moll on June 28, 1980 at the Boscobel United Methodist Church in Boscobel.
Dan had many joys in life but family came first and foremost. Summertime couldn’t come fast enough for him. It meant that school was getting out and he knew that one of the grandkids would be going with him in the Semi that he drove for over 23 years and over 3 million miles. If none of the grandkids could go, then his wife of 35 years would go with him and he would show her the country.
Dan loved spending time with all of his family and friends, which meant so much for him. Dan loved cutting wood for the winter and being outside. Once fall came around, going to the Davis Motorcycle Rally in New Hampton, IA in September was a top priority for Dan and Jo.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife; Jo Jones of Fennimore, four children; Christena Jones of Tigard, OR, Heidi Maring Thompson of Waterloo, IA, Cliff Jones of Platteville, Amanda (David) Raymie of Fennimore, 10 grandchildren; Kylie, Jeffrey, Tyson, Brandon, Leo, Daisy, Shawn, Blossom, Violet, Carter, four brothers; Paul (Karen) Jones of Branson, MO, Jim Jones of Gays Mills, Ray Jones of Dillsburg, PA, Tim (Diana) Jones of Waterloo, WI, and his brother and sister-in-laws, special niece and nephew Krystal and Ray Jones of Mechanicsburg, PA, great niece and nephews Doug, Brittany, and Mike Jones.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Anthony Maring and nephew Jimmy Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday May 14, 2016 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home on Saturday morning.
