Charles R. Anderson

anderson-charlesCharles R. “Chuck” Anderson of Fennimore and formerly of Lancaster, died on Wednesday morning Nov. 23, 2016, at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. Charles was born on Dec. 20, 1926 in Burlington, IA the son of Carl and Grace (Jensen) Anderson. He married Maxine Landon (Kephart) on July 25, 1992.

Following high school, Chuck served in both the Marine Corp. and the US Navy. He received a degree in business from Monmouth College and worked as a salesman for FRAM auto filters while living in Indiana. Chuck moved to Lancaster after purchasing the local NAPA auto parts store, which he owned and operated until his retirement. He would eventually own NAPA in Platteville as well. Chuck was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling with his wife Maxine. Chuck and Maxine traveled to all but two of the 50 states and spent a few weeks each winter in Mazatlan, Mexico.   He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster where he served as the church treasurer for many years. Chuck was a very hardworking man and his honesty and generosity will forever be cherished.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Maxine Anderson of Lancaster; children, Mitch (Jodi) Anderson of Sturgeon Bay, Jill (Sam) Schwer of Fennimore and Shelly (Jeff) Alderson of Racine; seven grandchildren, Bryant Anderson, Katrina (Jim) Edge, Jenna Anderson, Becca Schwer, Everett Schwer, Jerod Alderson and Calaway Alderson; great-granddaughter Amari Edge; brother Bill Anderson of Hendersonville, NC as well as many nieces nephews and cousins.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Gina Laury.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday Nov. 28, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster. Private burial of the cremains will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon at Christ Lutheran church in Lancaster and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Monday morning. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
