Avis L. Edge

Avis EdgeFennimore – Avis L. Edge, age 89, died peacefully on Sunday November 29, 2015. Avis was born on June 5, 1926 in Richland County, WI the daughter of Earl and Melinda (McNamer) West. She was united in marriage to Harry Edge on September 21, 1947.

Avis and Harry enjoyed playing cards and dancing with their friends. Avis was known around the area for her baking of wedding and birthday cakes. She was an aide for the disabled for the Fennimore and River Ridge Schools for many years. She loved her job and considered the students an extension of her family. Avis was a member of the Mt. Hope American Legion Auxiliary for 44 years. She was also a leader for the Golden Sunset 4H Club and served as a Grant County Fair Supervisor for which she was honored for her years of dedication in 2009. Avis struggled for several years with health problems and a special “Thank You” to her caregiver for the last 7 years; Mary Kopp.

Avis is survived by her two children; Donna (Lloyd) Wright of Reedsburg and Delbert (Noreen) Edge of Fennimore, eight grandchildren; Eric (Sarah) Wright of Murphy North Carolina, Angela (Mike) Walter of Lancaster, Damon and Zane Wright of Reedsburg, Heather (Derrick) Blackwell of Rock Springs, Kim (Matt) Van Haren of Mazomanie, Kenda (friend Travis and son Vincent) Edge of Fennimore, and Brent (Brittany) Edge of Dubuque, ten great-grandchildren; Hope, Sierra and Evan Wright, Domnic Walter, Mitchel and Michael Prochaska, Brooke, Renae and Olivia Hilger and Bryn Edge, great-great grandchild Dallas Prochaska, sister-in-law Mrytle Edge of Lancaster along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Avis was preceded in death by her husband Harry in 2004 and granddaughter Crystal Wright.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday December 4, 2015 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning.
