Arlene F. Fry

Arlene F. Fry, age 89, of Fennimore, passed away on Sunday morning May 14, 2017 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. She was born on April 10, 1928, in Patch Grove the daughter of George and Millicent (Dubel) Shepherd. Arlene was united in marriage to Kenneth S. Fry on Jan. 20, 1946 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church.

Arlene graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1945. She and Kenny resided in Preston from 1950 until 2005. Arlene was a true homemaker; while Kenny was out delivering the mail, she loved taking care of her family. She considered entering the work force after receiving her CNA license but decided to continue to be at home with her family. Arlene was a wonderful seamstress and made many Barbie Doll clothes. She enjoyed babysitting children in Preston, made the best cinnamon rolls and loved to bake pies. Arlene was a member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Preston Mothers Club, and the Boscobel Antique Club. Her dedication to family will be cherished forever.

Arlene is survived by her four children; Gary (Sue) Fry of Oregon, Greg (Kris) Fry of Fennimore, Jeff (Anita) Fry of Warren, IL and Debi Fry of Platteville, eight grandchildren; Teresa (Rusty) Raatz of Madison, Stephanie (Adam) Whitehorse of Madison, Elizabeth (Dale) Martini of Wake Forest, NC, Kim (Russ) Pope of Dubuque, IA, Gabe (Heather) Fry of Fennimore, Matt (Ingrid) Fry of Fennimore, Karrie (Kip) Sabinson of Warren, IL and Nicholas (Bobbie Kline) Fry of Evansville, 15 great grandchildren, three sisters; Connie Stimpson of Machesney Park, IL, Myrna (Don) Bowen of North Folk, VA, half sister Linda Smith of Dixon, IL, Sister-in-Laws; Rita Shepherd of CT, Helen Fry of Fennimore and Phyllis Fry of Onalaska along with several nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth on June 12, 2005, brother Raymond Shepherd, daughter-in-law Patricia Fry and brother-in-laws Carlos Stimpson and Bob Smith.

Eastern Star and funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday May 20, 2017, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M until time of service at the church on Saturday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Arlene F. Fry. The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Society for the wonderful care provided to their mother and grandmother.
