Doug Inghram, age 76, of Fennimore, died on Sunday Nov. 27, 2016 at his residence in Marion Township, rural Fennimore. Doug was born Douglas Wayne Offerle on Sept. 28, 1940 at Fort Riley, Kansas, where his father, Matthew Offerle, was stationed. His mother, Naomi, was married to his father for only a short time and then married Kenneth Inghram. Since Doug was only 2 years old, he went by the name Douglas Wayne Inghram after his step father. He even went through the national guard and Army with legal documents incorrectly listing his name as Inghram. It wasn’t until 1964 …

Helen Marilyn Briehl, age 86, of Eldridge, IA and formerly of Fennimore, WI, died on Tuesday Nov. 22, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Helen was born on June 3, 1930 in Edmond, WI the daughter of James and Mabel (Knutson) Moen. Helen graduated from Fennimore High School in 1948 and soon married her high school sweetheart, Stephen A. Briehl on Nov. 27, 1949. In addition to raising her family, Helen and Stephen owned and operated Briehl’s Café for 8 years and then City Foods from 1964-1970. Charles R. “Chuck” Anderson of Fennimore and formerly of Lancaster, died on Wednesday morning Nov. 23, 2016, at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. Charles was born on Dec. 20, 1926 in Burlington, IA the son of Carl and Grace (Jensen) Anderson. He married Maxine Landon (Kephart) on July 25, 1992. Following high school, Chuck served in both the Marine Corp. and the US Navy. He received a degree in business from Monmouth College and worked as a salesman for FRAM auto filters while living in Indiana. Clarice Marion Calhoun, age 91, of Fennimore, died on Wednesday morning Nov. 16, 2016, at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. Clarice was born Aug. 10, 1925 in Brooklyn, WI, the only child of Philip and Mabel (Olson) Johnson. She worked at Cuna Mutual Insurance before marrying he high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Calhoun on Feb. 17, 1945. They farmed in the Brooklyn-Stoughton area for 10 years. Mary Jean Clifton

Mary Jean Clifton, age 88, of Dodgeville, formerly of Montfort, passed away peacefully on Nov. 15, 2016, at CrestRidge Memory Care with her family at her side. Mary Jean was born Sept. 7, 1928, on the family farm in Iowa County to John and Mayme (Minter) Laufenberg. She married the love of her life, Marvin, of Mt. Hope on April 7, 1948. The couple farmed near Montfort until moving into Montfort in 1961. Mary Jean drove a van for special needs children in Iowa County and later a bus for Southwest Opportunities which always included their Down Syndrome daughter, Nancy. …
