Jeanette Kirkpatrick, age 86, of Lancaster and formerly of Montfort, died on Sunday evening Feb. 28, 2016 at Orchard Manor in Lancaster. Jeanette was born on May 16, 1929 in Dodgeville, WI the daughter of Forest and Wilma (Ellefson) Kirkpatrick. Jeanette was a kind-hearted person who loved to be around people, especially children. She enjoyed visiting with neighbors in Montfort and watching Lawrence Welk and the Price is Right on Television. Vivian J. Alcott

Vivian Julia Alcott (Eck), 88, of Montfort passed away on February 17, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Center in Fennimore surrounded by her family. She now joins family and friends in heaven. Vivian (Eck) Alcott was born October 28, 1927 in Ellenboro Township to Raymond and Berniece (Hall) Eck. Vivian attended elementary school at the rural Elmdale School and graduated from Cassville High School in 1945 and then earned a two-year teaching degree from Platteville Normal School. Montfort – Mary J. Jenks, age 80, of Montfort, died unexpectedly as the result of an automobile accident on Feb. 12, 2016 at University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville. Mary was born on Nov. 2, 1935 in Montfort, WI the daughter of Albert and Anna (Rose) Wienkes. She married Douglas Jenks on Oct. 10, 1953 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Highland, WI. Mary and Doug farmed outside of Cobb until purchasing the farm where they currently live in Wingville Township in 1972. James D. Harris

Platteville – James D. Harris, age 82, died on Saturday Feb. 6, 2016 at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. James was born on April 12, 1933 in Bagley, WI the son of Carson and Dorothy (Markley) Harris. He married Dorothy Larson on Nov. 14, 1998. Following graduation from Bagley High School, James joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War from Jan. 1954 to Jan. 1956. After returning home, he farmed outside of Lancaster.
